Treatments with a Registered Massage Therapist consist of assessment, manual therapy, reassessment and suggestions for home-care if requested.
The desired effects of massage therapy are intended to help identify/manage areas of pain/discomfort, maintain/increase mobility, and provide sensations of relief/relaxation.
When developing treatment plans, I strive to create a collaborative environment where you feel empowered to take ownership of your health by actively discussing your concerns and goals.
My style of treatment has been described as intuitive, adaptive, and palpation driven. I do not subscribe to the meta model of “deep tissue pressure” massage administered with fast pace but I have been told my treatments still feel deep and specific. I allow my hands to sink/mold to the specific anatomical structures that require attention and attune to your body’s feedback in the area for both information and treatment simultaneously.
My intention is to affect the nervous, musculoskeletal, and integumentary (skin) systems. This stems from having a neurocentric approach where I take each patient’s nervous system into consideration at every appointment.
The techniques I employ include and are not limited to: joint mobilization/joint play, neuromuscular technique, myofascial release, and Swedish relaxation.
I have experience working with:
acute tension/pain presenting in any area of the body
